Young bald eagles look very different from the iconic adults! For their first four to five years, they have mottled brown plumage with varying amounts of white on their wings, belly, and tail, like you see here. Their heads are also brown, and their beaks are dark rather than bright yellow.

This young one definetly had a successful fishing trip!

We have over 30 species of Sea Stars in BC, but we always see ochre stars! The ochre sea star is by far the most recognizable and popular sea star along BC's coast. They come in shades of purple, orange, brown, and reddish-pink, and typically have five arms. They're considered a keystone species because they prey on mussels, preventing them from taking over the intertidal zone.
