A Strong Return for an Iconic Destination
Telegraph Cove is known for its history, charm, and connection to the wild coast of Northern Vancouver Island. After the early 2025 fire, the community has come together in an incredible way, and the speed of the rebuild has been nothing short of inspiring. Now, in Spring 2026, the boardwalk is almost finished!
At North Island Kayak, we’re proud to be part of this effort. Our facilities are being rebuilt with care and purpose, ensuring we can continue offering the same high-quality experiences our guests expect. There’s a real sense of momentum here, with businesses reopening and the boardwalk slowly returning to its familiar character.
One of the most exciting developments is the progress at the Whale Interpretive Centre. Work has already begun on rebuilding this important space, which has long been a cornerstone of education and conservation in Telegraph Cove. Its return will once again provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the marine life that makes this region so special!
Despite the changes on land, the ocean remains as vibrant as ever. The waters surrounding Telegraph Cove continue to be some of the most wildlife-rich in the world, offering incredible opportunities to see whales, marine mammals, and coastal ecosystems up close.
For visitors, this season offers something unique. You’re not just experiencing Telegraph Cove, you’re witnessing its next chapter. There’s a renewed energy, a sense of resilience, and a strong connection to the community that makes every visit more meaningful.
We’re excited to welcome guests back and to share this journey with you. The rebuild is well underway, and Telegraph Cove is once again becoming the destination so many people know and love.
Come visit us this summer!
